Adopting a child with special needs has been a very challenging and rewarding experience. Some of which we were prepared for and some which was a surprise to us. However the most difficult part is dealing with the 'professionals'. You need to be a strong advocate for your child and be prepared to fight for what is best for them.
The adoption process is such an emotional rollercoaster that you have to be determined to get through it. It is more of a challenge than I think anyone can prepare you for, it was only knowing it was for our child that kept us going, but worth it once he was with us.”
