  1. I'm adopted. I think it is significant that there are hardly any comments on this website from adoptees so I'm glad this question has been asked. There are so many unanswered questions, encapsulated by Angelina's phrase, "I've got no past". Everything about adoption (even the word itself doesn't acknowledge the time before the child is given away but concentrates on the 'afterwards') seems to be about the feelings of adoptive parents, the solution to the problem of childless parents and the solution to the problem of parentless children.

The feelings of loss and lack of identity are often left with the adoptee. There is no space for them.

I want to try to answer my questions by writing my story but I find it very difficult to start.”

  2. Even a visit to the GP brings uup 'does anyone in your family suffer from ..?
I think we should have access to medical notes of parents even if only one was on the birth certificate. I would like to see where I was born. My children all know where they were born. They know who their mum and dad are even if we did get divorced.”

“I was told I couldn’t have children, so it was gonna be, o.k. so, not only am I adopted so it’s almost like I’ve got no past, now it’s gonna be that I’ve got no, kind of, link to the future either in that sense”
